The great subversion four years ago and four years later
In 2018, Siemens released "Vision 2020 +" with the following key contents:
·Determine the new organizational structure of the company: three "operating companies": natural gas and power generation, intelligent infrastructure and digital industry, and "strategic companies": Siemens Healthcare, Siemens gomesa and Siemens Alstom in preparation
·Give businesses more freedom to operate independently and accelerate business growth: improve revenue and profit margin
·Acquisition of mendix to continue to expand digital business
·Open up a new growth area: "IOT integrated services"
As a global leader in the field of industrial digitalization, Siemens has established a new development direction of the company. By accelerating business growth, improving profitability and streamlining organizational structure, Siemens is facing the long-term future and creating value. It is understood that the main goal of Siemens "corporate vision 2020 +" strategic plan is to give the company more freedom to each business, carry out independent operation under the powerful Siemens brand, and make it more focused on the development in their respective markets.
In 2014, Siemens released the "Vision 2020" strategic plan, the contents of which are as follows:
·Streamline the organization, cancel the "sector" level, and merge the existing 16 business groups into nine. The nine business groups are: power generation and natural gas, wind power generation and renewable energy, power generation services, energy management, building technology, transportation, digital chemical plant, process industry and drive, financial services.
·The medical business will operate independently in the future. This means that regional organizations can be set up according to the needs of the local medical market without following the company's organizational structure.
·Confirm the acquisition of Rolls Royce energy's Aero modified gas turbine and compressor business.
·The listing of the listening business can make Siemens' hearing aid business successfully gain a strong market position, prepare for the listing of the listening business, and better explore its business development potential outside the company.
·Functional departments. For example, human resources and enterprise communication will be streamlined and centralized in the future.

For this reason, the industrial control editor specially collected the financial data of Siemens in 2014 and 2018 and made a comparison
According to the financial report of Siemens in 2014, shortly after the launch of "Vision 2020", the industrial business achieved an organic order growth of 5%, revenue increased by 4%, and its profit of 2.3 billion euro became a contributor to the overall profit of the business. The financial statements once again confirm that the application market of new industrial technologies and new solutions will be a high profit source that Siemens can rely on.
By 2018, Siemens "Vision 2020" has achieved remarkable results. Siemens reported revenue of 20.1 billion euros in the second quarter of fiscal year 2018, basically unchanged from the same period last year, and new orders remained strong, reaching 22.3 billion euros. Siemens made a profit of 2.3 billion euros in its physical business, which was mainly benefited from the outstanding performance of the digital plant group. However, it was also affected by the sharp decline in business profit and profitability of the power generation and natural gas group. Siemens reported net revenue of 2 billion euros in the quarter, including a profit of 700 million euros from its centrally managed business portfolio.
At present, "Vision 2020" has been basically completed, and the implementation speed and results have exceeded expectations. "Over the past four years, we have worked together," said Joe KAESER, President and chief executive of Siemens AG. Today, the profitability of almost all our businesses has improved significantly, customer satisfaction has reached a record high, and our digital factory group has become a market leader in the field of industrial digitalization. Expanding digital business
Today, in addition to announcing the company's new vision, Siemens signed an agreement to acquire mendix, a pioneer and leader in the field of cloud native low code application development.
Under the agreement, Siemens will pay 600 million euros in cash to acquire the company. Mendix will retain its own brand and culture, and continue to serve customers in the whole industry with its unique platform and extensive ecosystem and community. Siemens will continue to invest in the development of mendix's independent product development roadmap to maintain its unique position as the most innovative and open low code cloud platform. Mendix will become a part of the software business of Siemens Digital Factory Group, and its platform will also be deployed in other Siemens business groups.
With the digitalization of enterprise investment in business operation, the growth of business application demand far exceeds the delivery capacity of IT organization. Low code application development platform can realize the rapid development, deployment and execution of cloud based applications.
Mendix was founded in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in 2005 and is currently headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. The company has more than 400 employees. Based on the business model of software as a service of mendix, 90% of its sales are regular sales. Siemens expects that in the future, mendix will achieve strong growth both in its original market area and in its customer base. Mendix will help accelerate Siemens' capabilities in existing cloud computing, Internet of things and digital enterprise software. Mendix will also continue to deploy technology to serve customers and partners in all vertical industries and technology ecosystems.
"Through the acquisition of mendix, we will further expand Siemens' leading position in the field of industrial digitalization, which is the cornerstone of our" Vision 2020 + "strategy," said Klaus Helmrich, a member of the Management Committee of Siemens AG
It is reported that the transaction has yet to be approved by regulatory authorities, and Siemens plans to complete it in the first quarter of fiscal year 2019. Through the newly established IOT integrated services business unit, Siemens is expanding its IOT platform products to provide comprehensive support for customers' digital transformation. Relying on years of industry experience in a wide range of business areas and leading technologies such as artificial intelligence and network information security, Siemens plans to provide customers with consulting, design, prototype development and implementation services. It is estimated that the annual growth rate of IOT integrated service market will reach 10% to 15% before 2025. Siemens plans to employ about 10000 people in this field by 2025.
